SAD

What does SAD stand for?

SAD stands for Single Administrative Document. It is a document used for customs declarations in the EU and other European countries such as Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, the Republic of North Macedonia and Serbia. SAD was mandatory for customs declarations before the ATLAS electronic system was introduced. Today the form is used for clearance under the ATLAS fallback procedure.

The SAD has eight forms with different functions, and they are broken down into 54 boxes, most of which are to be completed by the applicant using a code. Boxes 1 and 37 are of particular importance. Boxes 2 and 3 are for export, boxes 6, 7 and 8 are for import, and boxes 1, 4 and 5 are for transit.
