Border Inspection Post

What is a Border Inspection Post?

The border inspection post checks the importation of live animals, food and the origin of animal products from countries outside the European Union (EU). The importer must notify the arrival of a consignment at the border inspection post where the goods are to be inspected prior to their arrival.

Due to the extensive animal health legislation, customs clearance of animals and livestock products may only be carried out at the authorised customs offices to which a border inspection post is assigned.
