PIC (Participant identification Code)

What is PIC (Participant identification Code)?

In the context of electronic message exchange with customs, a PIC (Participant Identification Code) is required for checking access authorisation and identification of the message sender. It replaces the handwritten signature in electronic message exchange.

The PIC can be applied for at the General Customs Directorate before it is subsequently issued by the Information and Knowledge Management Customs (IWM Customs) in Dresden. If the current deferment of payment is claimed, a deferment PIC must also be applied for.
